Slow Art Day

Slow Art DaySaturday, April 4
10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Mindfulness meets art. Hit the pause button and celebrate international Slow Art Day, a global event whose mission encourages slow looking and deeper engagement with the works on view. Visitors are invited to engage more deliberately with art, thus revealing more about themselves while discovering the joy of looking at and loving art.

Not sure where to begin? Choose a work of art and observe it from afar and from up close. Take in all aspects, noticing details such as colors, facial expressions, objects, lighting, mood and any other elements that help narrate the story. Observe the work for five to ten minutes and take note of your impressions. Then find another work of art that catches your eye and continue on your journey.

A tour will be offered at 11:00 AM in which participants will gather with a Museum docent to observe five works in 45 minutes and share experiences and discuss insights gained through slow looking.

Members free; non-members free with Museum admission
