3:30 PM – A Chance Late Afternoon Meeting on the Lawn
Choreographer Peter Kyle presents a live performance in conjunction with artist Caleb Nussear
’s latest work, featured in OnSite Katonah, "Luncheon on the Grass: Suite of Five Sculptures." The performance will feature a quartet of performers from the New York City-based Peter Kyle Dance company. The dancers experiment with and deconstruct select elements of Edouard Manet’s famed 1863 Le Déjeuner sur l’herbe, itself an inspiration for Nussear’s work. Using motion, tempo, spatial sequences, costume and improvisation, the choreography will explore a dreamlike logic constructed out of the transience of form and the convergence of both sculptural and figurative energies. Embracing spontaneity, discovery, and claiming a sense of place, Kyle will construct the event after a mere 8 hours of rehearsal on site at KMA in the days leading up to the performance.
