Philip Kunhardt Lecture

Sunday, January 10, 5:30 pm

Noted Lincoln scholar, Philip Kunhardt will present “The President and the Poet: The Converging Lives of Abraham Lincoln and Walt Whitman.”  In his lecture, Kunhardt will shed light on how Lincoln was both revered and influenced by Whitman, and how he inspired the poet’s crowning masterpiece “When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom’d.”

As an author and producer for PBS, HBO, and other networks, Kunhardt has helped create stirring historical documentaries and written companion books to accompany them. He is the recognized authority on Abraham Lincoln and on the visual record of his life and times. Kunhardt has co-authored Lincoln: An Illustrated Biography, Looking for Lincoln, and Lincoln: Life Size. Join us for a book-signing and wine reception following the lecture.
