Our latest selection is Nadja by André Breton, founder of the Surrealist movement in France. Originally published in 1928, Nadja is the first and perhaps best Surrealist romance ever written, a book that defined the movement’s attitude toward everyday life. In it, the city of Paris becomes a magical, fluid reality, peopled with sphinxes and shaped by extraordinary events and coincidences. Everything in Nadja, from the first-person narrative to the Surrealist photographs, challenges conventional reality.

Copies of the book are available at the Katonah Village Library. Wine and cheese reception at 7:00 pm; discussion begins promptly at 7:30 pm.
Free; advance registration required: (914) 232-9555 ext. 0.
