Katonah Museum Himmel Award

The Katonah Museum is proud to present Robert Storr as the inaugural recipient of the Katonah Museum Himmel Award. Please join us for Dean Storr's lecture Art's Self-Sufficiency in a Boom/Bust Art World.

Robert Storr is currently Dean of the Yale University School of Art. Previously, Storr was the Curator in the Department of Painting and Sculpture at the Museum of Modern Art and the Rosalie Solow Professor of Modern Art at the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University. In 2007, he became the first American to direct the Venice Biennale. Dean Storr's accomplishments span the art world. A noted painter, art historian, and critic, he has written extensively about the theory and practice of art.

Katonah Museum Himmel Award is named in honor of Betty Himmel, who was instrumental in defining the direction and mission of the Museum and has served as an arts advocate and community leader for many years. The award will recognize annually those creators and conceivers, radical thinkers and risk takers who have demonstrated their ability to incite, excite and provoke new thinking in the arts.
