Buena Vista Social Club
In 1996, Ry Cooder gathered together some of the greatest names from the history of Cuban music from the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s to collaborate on the bestselling and Grammy Award-winning album, The Buena Vista Social Club. Inspired by these colorful characters and their extraordinary music, director Wim Wenders travels to Havana to chronicle the cooperation and camaraderie between Cooder and his veteran friends, known in Cuba as "Los Superablos” (the Super-Grandfathers), as well as their dazzling concerts in Amsterdam and New York's Carnegie Hall in April and July 1998.

John Farr, editor of and co-founder of the Avon Theatre Film Center in Stamford, CT ( will give a brief introduction. Hors d’oeuvres courtesy of Sam's of Gedney Way; Mojitos courtesy of Caperberry Events & Catering.

Any male guests who wear a guayabera (Cuban shirt available at Kelloggs & Lawrence in downtown Katonah for only $20—a limited offer made in conjunction with the KMA exhibition) to a KMA Movies& Mojitos event will be eligible for a special Cuban-themed raffle prize at each of these parties.
