Sounds of the Dragon: A Chinese-American Musical Harvest

Two award-winning ensembles, Music from Copland House and Music from China, join forces for Sounds of the Dragon: A Chinese-American Musical Harvest, performing music that explores a melding of Eastern and Western sounds, and featuring Chinese and European musical instruments. Works in this program by leading Chinese emigre composers reflect the diverse influences of 8th century Chinese poetry, American rap music, Asian calligraphy, Philip Glass, Mongolian folk music, the Kentucky countryside, and more. The 3:00 concert at the Merestead estate in Mount Kisco will be preceeded by a 1:00 pm special docent tour of Rising Dragon at KMA. No charge for docent tour for KMA members and concert ticket holders.
