Himmel Award & Lecture: Maya Lin
Sunday, December 9, 5:00 pm
The event was previously scheduled for November 4 but was postponed due to the effects of Hurricane Sandy.
This year the Katonah Museum of Art's annual Himmel Award and Lecture honors Maya Lin, the internationally recognized artist whose remarkable career bridges the fields of art, architecture, and the monument. She draws inspiration from the landscape, asking the viewer to reconsider nature at a time when it is crucial to do so. A committed environmentalist, she is at work on her last memorial, What is Missing?, a multi-sited artwork that raises awareness about the current crisis surrounding biodiversity and habitat loss.
Prepaid reservations required by Monday, December 3rd by 5pm. $50 members, $75 non-members, $15 students. 914-232-9555 ext. 2968. Reception at 5:00 pm; lecture is 5:30 pm at Chappaqua Crossing auditorium (formerly Reader's Digest at 480 N. Bedford Rd).
