Jenny Lee, guest designer and educator at Hunter College Elementary School, the Cooper-Hewitt and The Center for Architecture Foundation invites us to think like an architect, artist or city planner. Working creatively and collaboratively within a group, Jenny will introduce substantive and accessible approaches to project-based learning.

’Learning Thru Design’ incorporates math, science, social studies, and language arts skills into a hands-on STEM project with Art and Design - STEAMD. Using inexpensive materials, participants will learn the basic skills needed to construct simple architectural models. The construction techniques are scalable across all grade levels and will involve math skills such as measuring, scale, geometry and estimating. Pre and post Assessment tool, easily adapted to specific learning objectives, will also be covered. You will leave with a physical model and knowledge of the techniques and methods needed to create your own projects.
