YOUNG ARTISTS: A High School Art Exhibition
In the Main GalleriesThis annual exhibition of high school seniors' artwork from member schools gives aspiring artists an opportunity to participate in all aspects of a museum exhibition. With the guidance of professionals, the young artists organize, publicize, curate, and mount their own exhibition. YOUNG ARTISTS 2011 (May 15 - May 22, 2011)
Opening Reception: Sunday, May 15, 3-5pm
Poster Workshop
Wednesday, March 9, 9am – 3pm (Snow date: Monday, March 14)
Participating schools are invited to have two seniors attend this workshop, led by Louis Netter, a professional graphic designer. The objective is to design the announcement and poster for Young Artists 2011.
Exhibition Installation
Wednesday, May 11 and Thursday, May 12, 9am – 3pm
The Young Artists exhibition is designed and installed by high school students working alongside the KMA’s professional installation staff. Two senior or junior students from each member high school can participate each day.
YOUNGER ARTISTS EXHIBITION
In the Learning Center
Showcase your students’ work in the Museum. Original art created in your classroom, inspired by your museum visit, will be displayed in the Learning Center. Artwork can be made by individual students, groups, or entire classes. Younger artists will have a festive fruit punch and cookie opening. INTERNSHIPSThe KMA provides supervised Museum internships designed collaboratively to meet the requirements for school credit. Students also have the opportunity to volunteer for community service credit. For information, contact the Education Department, 914-232-9555, ext. 2984.
