KMA Studio Series: Layered Inspirations

Join artist and educator Monique Ford for a hands-on exploration exploring different media, inspired by the KMA’s exhibition Intermittent Islands: Four Caribbean Women Artists. Each month features a different project. You can experiment with printmaking, mixed media, and weaving, learning different techniques in each workshop.

November 21: Gelli Plate Printmaking

December 12: Mixed Media Portraits

January 16: Experiments with Weaving

Skill Level: All levels welcome; no prior artmaking experience required.

About the Instructor:
Monique Ford is a visual and performing artist. Currently, her body of work focuses on portraiture of the female form. Monique has won notable awards related to her professional career as a painter, including Best in Show- 34th Annual Bedford Art Show and Best in Show- 57th Artists of the Northeast at the Silvermine Arts Center. Collaboration and community are at the heart of her work. Monique received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2003 from Plattsburgh State University and her Master of Fine Arts in 2006 from Pratt Institute. Monique resides in Bedford Village, NY, and currently works at the Performing Arts Center at Purchase College and teaches art at Bethany Arts Community and the Katonah Art Center. She also serves as the President of the KMAA.
