About the Instructor:
Allyson Montana is a painter and mixed media artist working in the New York City area and a member of the Katonah Museum Artist’s Association (KMAA). Allyson’s work explores unwritten stories from the archaeological past and plays with the metaphor of interpretation, narrative, and authorship. She layers media, paint, and other natural materials in her paintings to deliberately obscure mark-making and meaning. Allyson has over twenty years’ experience in teaching both art and art history and is currently a part-time faculty member at Teachers College, Columbia University.
The mission of the Katonah Museum Artists' Association (KMAA) is to develop and enhance an artistic community by providing exhibition opportunities, educational programs, and venues for networking while supporting the activities and exhibitions of the Katonah Museum of Art.
